Brazil has never won the Olympic gold medal, in a competition contested by under-23 teams with three jokers (over-aged players) allowed in each squad, and is determined to correct that statistic. "I'm very happy to have this second opportunity to represent the country and also to have the support of the president (of the football federation) to continue working with the national team," said Dunga, who won Olympic silver with Brazil in Los Angeles in 1984. He will have to combine his energies in guiding the national team through the World Cup 2010 qualifiers as well as trying to land Olympic gold. "I really want to take part in the Olympics because it's totally different and Brazil has never won the gold medal," added Dunga, who will be assisted by Romario, who was part of the World Cup winning squad in 1994 when Dunga was the captain. Dunga is likely to call up promising young players such as AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato and Corinthians winger Lulinha for the tournament. | Good, maybe we can actually win. |
