The game also witnessed the return of Huth and Pogatetz who m Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky is yet to make his debut for Boro in official games. The Egyptian made it to the bench twice so far but he never came on. However, the former Ahly central midfielder played for the reserves team in their away clash with the reserves of the Scottish side Rangers. Shawky played in the heart of midfield and saw 45 minutes of action. The Egyptian had an early effort on goal but his shot went wide and also he provided some key passes to the Korean forward Dong Gook. Some of the experienced players from both sides particip[ated in the game. The former England international and former Boro centre back Ugo Ehiogo played for Rangers reserves while Boro experienced players Huth and Pogatetz played the full 90 minutes in order to get back to their fitness levels after coming back from long term injuries. Boro scored both of their goals in the first half that Shawky participated in. The first goal came after a fine assist by the Korean international Dong Gook who crossed the ball to Hines and the latter found the net. After a few minutes, Boro extended their lead through Goulon who fired a strong shot from way out, the ball was deflected off a defender and went onto the back of the net to make the score 0-2 for Shawky's side.ade their comeback after long term injuries Boro continued to impress with Shawky on and almost added a 3rd goal before half time but the chance was wasted. During half time, Egyptian international Shawky came off and was replaced by Hutchinson.
