Feyenoord chasing Blackburn defender Ooijer

Feyenoord are chasing Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer.

The Dutch giants want to bring Ooijer, 33, back to Holland in January as a replacement for knee injury victim Ron Vlaar.

Blackburn's Ooijer open to Feyenoord move

Blackburn Rovers defender Andre Ooijer admits he's open to a move to Feyenoord at the end of this season.

"I'm not in a position to talk officially about anything, but everything is under consideration," Ooijer told Dutch radio station Rijnmond.

"The moment that a concrete offer comes my way I will be able to reflect on the situation and that applies to Feyenoord's case as well."

Blackburn insist no decision on Ooijer contract

Blackburn insist they have made no decision on the long-term future of Andre Ooijer.

Erroneous reports suggested recently that Rovers have already told the Dutchman that he is free to leave the club next summer.

By then the 33-year-old will be at the end of the two-year contract he signed when he joined the club in 2006 but Rovers have an option to extend the association by a further season.

Rovers chairman John Williams said: "It's simply not true that we've said to Andre he can leave on a free transfer next summer.

"The situation with his contract is very simple. We signed him on a two-year deal last summer and the club has the option of a further year if we want to extend it.

"The date that clause must be exercised by is around April time, so no decision has to be made just yet.

"All I will say is Andre is a very valuable member of Mark Hughes' squad."

Feyenoord have been strongly tipped to make a move for Ooijer, but the defender, who is preparing for Holland's final Euro 2008 qualifier against Belarus, admits no contact has been made, except for a text appeal from the De Kuip side's players.

Nothing official is going on - they have not made me an offer. But a number of Feyenoord players have started a kind of text message offensive in a bid to persuade me to join them," revealed Ooijer.
