In the latest South Africa 2010 qualifier taking place today, Côte d'Ivoire were surprising held 0-0 by Madagascar in Antananarivo.

German coach Franz Gerber masterminded the goalless draw between his unfancied team and an Elephants side which included the likes of Kolo Toure, Didier Zokora and Abdoulaye Meite. Substitute Gustav Bebey Mbangue added another three minutes from time to take Cameroon top of Group 1, three points ahead of nearest challengers Cape Verde Islands, who beat Tanzania 1-0 yesterday.
