The former African Footballer of the Year, earlier this week told he had no future at Spanish club Barcelona, also netted his side’s first goal in the African qualifying zone Group One encounter in Yaounde. The win moves Cameroon to 10 points in the group and on the verge of making sure of progress to the last phase of the qualifiers for the finals in South Africa. Eto’o opened the scoring in the 69th minute after Cameroon had missed several first half chances but Tanzania, who held the Indomitable Lions to a 0-0 draw in Dar-es-Salaam last week, came back to equalise with 10 minutes left through Danny Mrwanda. But Eto’o, who has been linked with several English clubs since new Barcelona coach Josef Guardiola said he was no longer needed, hammered in a powerful shot in the 89th minute to make sure of Cameroon’s third win in four group games. Eto’o first goal came after the Tanzania goalkeeper spilt a corner but the visitors also took advantage of poor defending to equalise. | Eto'o winner keeps Cameroon on course in qualifiers - World Soccer - Yahoo!
