Shevchenko, who started his senior career at Dynamo before moving to Milan, endured a difficult first season at Chelsea. He has not featured for Jose Mourinho's side this term and Dynamo are interested in taking him back to Ukraine. "I said in every interview that there was a possibility that Shevchenko wouldn't play well for Chelsea," Dynamo president Igor Surkis is quoted as saying on the club's official website. "I've asked Shevchenko to ask his board to let him go to Dynamo on loan. "If we qualify for the (UEFA Champions League) group stage we'll have only 24 hours to do all the paperwork." Willing to pay Surkis has stressed that, while he would not be able to buy Shevchenko, he would be willing to pay the striker's wages. He said: "I'm ready to pay his salary instead of the Chelsea board but I'm not ready to reimburse 45million dollars (£22.5million) to (Chelsea owner Roman) Abramovich. "I don't know what's going on at Chelsea but I'm ready to take Shevchenko on loan. "He does not have a small salary but I'm ready to pay that." Source: Sky Sports | Home

Dynamo president Igor Surkis told his club's website: "I have asked Shevchenko to ask his board to let him come here on loan. "I am ready to take Andriy. He does not have a small salary but I am ready to pay that." Shevchenko made his name with Dynamo before joining AC Milan in 1999. He moved to Chelsea for £30m in 2006 but scored only four goals last season. The Italian side have also attempted to re-sign Shevchenko but their president Silvio Berlusconi claimed in July that they have been priced out of any deal. Surkis says he does not want to strike a permanent deal for Shevchenko, adding: "I'm ready to pay his salary instead of the Chelsea board but I'm not ready to reimburse Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich for him."

"There are people who try to put me in the middle, who say that it was my fault Mourinho went," the 2004 European Footballer of the Year told Gazzetta dello Sport. "But I'm not a director, I'm a player. The only thing that matters to me is giving everything I can to the team." |

Ever since his arrival at Stamford Bridge the Ukrainian striker has looked a pale imitation of the player that struck fear into defences across Europe when he was at his peak with Milan. Shevchenko's relationship with Jose Mourinho was luke-warm at best, as the Portuguese tactician elected to leave him on the bench, much to the chagrin of Chelsea owner and the player's friend, Roman Abramovich. Grant is said to have a better understanding with the 31-year-old but he too has elected to leave Shevchenko very much on the periphery of his first XI. And Chelsea's latest incumbent admits he is at a loss to explain the player's lack of form. Help at hand "I prefer only to say that he was not at his best from the beginning of the year but there are many reasons for this," Grant said. "You never know if it is because of the mental side that the player doesn't look so good in the physical side, or if it has come from the physical side. Sometimes it is both. "We are talking about professional players. They need to handle everything. We try to help them if they help themselves. "We tried to help him as we try to help other players. But the players feel they need to help themselves. We have a big squad and we will need everybody, including Andrei Shevchenko." Sky Sports | Home

Shevchenko will never get any better now anyway, he can hardly run and once you lose that extra yard of pace you'll never get it back, also has anyone forgot he's 31 now. The best thing to do is to sell him back to kiev. Then he can finish of his succesful career, where he began it, the longer he stay's at Chelsea the worse he will get and then know one will want to buy him and it will be a dissapointing ending to his great career, as one of the best strikers in history (even if that was 4 or 5 years ago)
