Derby's Nyatanga happy at Barnsley

Barnsley defender Lewin Nyatanga wants a return to Derby County.

The 19-year-old is on loan until January and produced another fine display against Burnley to stretch the Tykes' unbeaten run to seven games.

The Wales international wants to help County's fight to stay in the top-flight, but will not be complaining if he remains at Oakwell.

"Barnsley is my main focus until January," he said. "Then I'll see what happens at Derby. If they want me to come back, I will but if I was to stay here for the season, I would be very happy with that too."

Derby boss Davies denies Birch fall-out

Billy Davies has again firmly dismissed suggestions of a fall-out with Trevor Birch, who left Derby County on Friday after only four months in his role as chief executive.

Reports in the national press last month alleged the Rams manager's relationship with Birch and chairman Peter Gadsby had broken down.

The reports were swiftly and strenuously denied by Davies and Gadsby. Mystery still surrounds the reason for Birch's shock departure.

Some reports have again pointed to possible differences of opinion with the manager but Davies rejects this.

Speaking after Saturday's goalless draw at Fulham, Davies said: "I do not do the hiring and firing at this club, that is a board decision and that's as much as I can say.

"I have not had any fall out at all with Trevor Birch - no fall out, nothing. I have never had cross words with Trevor Birch."

Pearson remains in frame for Derby takeover

Former Hull City chairman Adam Pearson continues to be linked with a takeover of Derby County.

The Derby Evening Telegraph says Derby continue to seek new investment and there are strong rumblings of a possible takeover.

Pearson continues to be linked with the club and the 43-year-old is keen to return to football. There is also talk of interested American investors.
