Everton boss Moyes now seeing McFadden best

Everton boss Dave Moyes believes he's now getting the best from former Motherwell winger James McFadden.

"Were getting bits of the best out of Faddy just now," Moyes told the Liverpool Echo.

"Theres a bit of him which infuriates you, but theres certainly bits of him that get you out of your seat and at the moment I think hes got an eye for goal.

"He is happy to take on the opportunities like he did against France for Scotland, and even in the game before against Lithuania.

"Not only that, hes scored a couple of different goals, like the header at the back post then a tap-in against Sheffield Wednesday.

"When he gets opportunities like that now you think, hell probably score here so thats good.

"Hes showing more maturity with his decision-making on the field so I think hes doing better this year.

"Its coming on, which we always thought it would do with age and experience."

Celtic move for Everton attacker McFadden

Celtic are chasing Everton attacker James McFadden.

The Daily Mail says Everton and Celtic have a good relationship which was boosted by Celtic allowing Thomas Gravesen to return to Merseyside on loan just before the summer transfer deadline.

Celtic have never lost interest in the youngster from the Springburn area of the city.

They and Old Firm rivals Rangers were both keen to take him from Motherwell before Everton jumped in to present McFadden with the chance to make his mark in the Premier League.

Agent cools Celtic link for Everton's McFadden

James McFadden's agent has played down reports linking the player with Celtic, claiming Everton are preparing a new deal for the forward.

Celtic have held a long-term interest in McFadden and are thought to have considered a move for the skilful attacker before he moved to Everton from Motherwell.

McFadden has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Toffees side despite his heroics with Scotland, fuelling rumours of a possible move away in search of regular first-team action.

The 24-year-old's agent, Willie McKay, says Everton are keen to keep McFadden and are lining up a new deal for the player.

"James is under contract at Everton and he is only thinking of Everton," McKay told Sky Sports.

"I believe David Moyes is ready to offer him a new contract to keep him at Goodison Park."

Everton unconcerned over Celtic link for McFadden

Everton assistant boss Alan Irvine insists they're unconcerned over reports linking James McFadden with Celtic.

He told evertonTV: "If your players are doing well then other people will look at them and hope to sign them but we're not looking to sell any players, we've been patiently building the squad and we are not looking to sell players.

"There was speculation recently about Andrew Johnson and he signed a new contract, so that shows what the clubs intentions are as far as that's concerned.

"I believe there is a bit of speculation with Faddy now, but as I said with Andy, we have no plans to sell James McFadden.

"There will be people who look at the number of strikers we've got and say that perhaps we have too many but we haven't had too many so far this season and we hope that we will have them all to choose from. Sometimes we'll play with one striker and sometimes we'll play with two strikers, and it's up to the ones that are in possession at that time to perform well and to score the goals that will keep them in the team."

Everton's McFadden open to SPL return

Everton's McFadden open to SPL return

Everton striker James McFadden admits he would consider a move back to Scotland.

The 24-year-old former Motherwell frontman has been linked with a possible transfer to Celtic.

He is keen to stay in the English top flight but will keep his options open.

"I'd love to play in the Premiership but if it is not going to happen or if a chance to go back up to Scotland came in and I felt it was the right thing for me to do then I would do it," McFadden told the Sunday Herald. "Obviously it would be nice to be back with my family and back playing football again, but until that chance comes it is quite hard to answer that question. Hopefully it will happen one day but I will wait and see."

McFadden has not been a regular in the Everton side this season, but is aware the club wish to keep him.

He explained: "The club have made it clear that they want to offer me a contract and I have not gone down that road yet because I want to try to get into the team before I start talking about contracts."

Everton snub Celtic loan move for McFadden

Everton snub Celtic loan move for McFadden

Written by: AFP

Evertonīs James McFadden (L) beats West Ham Unitedīs Hayden Mullins during a Premiership match at Goodison Park in Liverpool, north-west England, in 2006. Everton have rejected Celticīs bid to sign Scotland forward McFadden on loan.

GLASGOW (AFP) - Everton have rejected Celtic's bid to sign Scotland forward James McFadden on loan.

The Scottish champions made their offer over the weekend but Everton chief executive Keith Wyness insisted his club had no intention of letting McFadden leave when the transfer window opens in January.

David Moyes's side face a busy New Year, with a League Cup semi-final against Chelsea packed in between Premier League and FA Cup commitments, so McFadden is vital to their plans even though he has struggled to break into the team this season.

"It is absolute nonsense to suggest that James McFadden will be joining Celtic on loan," Wyness told the Scottish Daily Mail: "The fact is Celtic made a request to us on Saturday and it was immediately rejected out of hand.

"We are in the League Cup semi-finals, the last 32 of the UEFA Cup and still have the FA Cup to come.

"We also have Premiership commitments, so we need all our top players around."

Celtic could still get their man in the long run though because former Motherwell star McFadden, who was an unused substitute in Sunday's defeat at Manchester United, would consider a move back to Scotland if he doesn't become a first-team regular soon.

"I'd love to play in the Premiership (Premier League) but if it's not going to happen, or if a chance to go back to Scotland came in and I felt it was the right thing for me, then I would do it," McFadden said.

"The club have made it clear they want to offer me a contract and I have not gone down that road yet because I want to try to get into the team before I start talking about contracts."
