Everton vs Liverpool

Everton 1-2 Liverpool

Hyypia(OG), - Kuyt 2,(2 pen)

First half:

Liverpool started well, having the first shots during the game. Early on Voronin had a shot on goal and it was well saved by the keeper. Then things started to turn into Evertons favour and they began to push forward and create attacks. They kept pushing and pushing for a goal and Everton got it...from a corner....form a Liverpool player. Hyppia was unlucky to score this own goal, the ball could have gone anywhere. It was nearing half time and Liverpool upped their performance slightly.

Second half:

Liverpool started well, they were now pushing and making the attacks, and about 20 minitues into the second half Liverpool broke away, Gerrard running on the counter-attack and he was about to score a goal, but then he was fouled by an Everton player and he was sent off. Kuyt stepped up to take the penalty and scored, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. Liverpool from then were dominant, making chances, but missing them. Babbel was brought on and instantly made an impact. Liverpool kept pushing. Gerrard was subbed of in the last 10 minitues for Lucas and this proved to be a good decision, in the last minitue Liverpool were in the box, the shot, shot, keeper saved and then Lucas shot, and it was saved...by an Everton outfield player. He was red carded and Liverpool had a penalty. Kuyt stepped up once again and...SCORED!! After the penalty, Liverpool had a scare, Everton nearly scored, but it was cleared and the referee blew the whistle.

Everton's AJ back inside fortnight

Everton striker Andy Johnson hopes to be back inside a fortnight as he recovers from an ankle op.

He told evertonTV: "I am fine. I had the clean out of my ankle a few weeks ago and it is looking likely that I will probably only have about two weeks to go.

"In my mind, the gaffer's mind and the medical staff it was the right thing to do.

"I am looking forward to getting back fit and carrying on from my goal against Newcastle.

"It is a long season. We are in a massive competition in Europe, still in the FA Cup, Carling Cup and there are still 30 games to go in the league so it is a massive season for me.

"It is better getting this done now and only missing two games than half way down the line missing about 10/11 games."

Everton's Turner has hip surgery

Everton goalkeeper Iain Turner has been ruled out until 2008 with a hip injury.

"Iain will be out until the New Year," head physio Mick Rathbone told evertonTV. "He has had a hip problem for around six months and we gave it every opportunity to try and allay surgery.

"But unfortunately after prolonged physio, he had a problem again kicking the ball. So we had to go to the next stage which was surgery."

Rathbone was pleased with the outcome of the operation and is now hoping the injury has been rectified.

"The operation went well and was nothing worse than we expected," he said. "The problem with the hip is that it is quite an unforgiving joint but fingers crossed the problem seems to have been solved."

Everton cheated out of derby win - Moyes

Everton were "cheated" out of victory against Liverpool on Saturday, says manager Dave Moyes.

Everton finished the game losing 2-1 after Liverpool were handed two second-half penalties.

"Heads should be held high," Moyes told evertonTV.

"I think we have had the best disciplinary record of any club this season but we have had two unfortunate sending-offs so I am disappointed with that.

"But I have told the players 'no', they have been cheated today in decisions that have gone against you.

"We didn't deserve to lose that game today."

Sheffield Utd move for Everton's Carsley

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson is reviving his interest in Everton midfielder Lee Carsley.

Robson tried to lure Carsley to Bramall Lane over the summer and is now seeking a loan deal for the veteran.

Everton boss Moyes won't accept ref apology

Everton boss Dave Moyes will reject any apology offered by ref Mark Clattenberg after his performance in Saturday's 2-1 victory by Liverpool.

Moyes said: "I would not take a phone call after that performance."

The angry Everton boss probably spared himself from a disrepute charge by adding: "Refs are honest people who generally do a good job but he [Clattenburg] didn't do a good job this time. They will probably suspend him for one game and think that is OK, but that is no good at all to us."

Clattenburg is being groomed to take over as the country's top ref.

Everton fans want ref Clattenburg banned

Everton fans have launched an internet petition calling for the banning of controversial derby day ref Mark Clattenburg from officiating at Premier League games.

Blues supporters blame him for the defeat, during which he refused to award Everton a penalty in the final minutes of the game.

He further angered Everton supporters by not sending off Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt for a two-footed airborne challenge on Blues skipper Phil Neville.

Now hundreds of football fans have signed the online petition which calls for the ban on Clattenburg, reports the Liverpool Echo.

It says: "We the undersigned ask the Football Association to ban Mark Clattenburg for life from refereeing in the Premier League. He gave a penalty for a foul committed outside the box.

"He gave a yellow card to the Liverpool player after his unsportsmanlike tackle on the Everton player, a tackle which according to the rules should result a direct red card.

"And in the dying moments of the game he refused to give a penalty to Everton after an obvious foul on the Everton player inside the box."

Everton skipper Neville "awestruck" by ref

Phil Neville claimed "awestruck" match officials will continue to ruin big games with mistakes as he wrestled with the injustice of Everton's derby defeat.

Everton's captain has experienced the other side of the coin during his time with Manchester United and believes there are some Premier League referees who are dazzled by the reputation of football's super powers.

Mark Clattenburg's decision not to award Joleon Lescott a penalty in injury time following his tangle with Jamie Carragher was just one of a number of things he botched up on Saturday afternoon but Neville wearily admits it won't be the last time Everton are wronged.

"I have been on the other side of things and you can see that some referees are awestruck when they deal with certain players and certain clubs," Neville told the Liverpool Echo. "But it's never going to change. It's been happening for 20 or 30 years and, unfortunately, we just have to get on with it."

I saw the second half of this one it was actually a very entertaining game. Everton looked to have it wrapped up but Larissa showed they have some quality by getting back in the game. Cleyton is a good striker I remember him of his time in Portugal but it was an end to end game and fun to watch.
