Everton needed extra-time to see off Luton at Kenilworth Road last night and left-back Baines told evertonTV: "To get to the final (with Wigan) was a great experience and one I will always remember. "Unfortunately we got there and didn't do as well as we would have liked but hopefully we can get there is time around and do a bit better. "We have got to look at the cup competitions and really have a go at them. We have fallen at a few early hurdles in cup competitions over recent years so it is about time we put a decent run together." |

He told evertonTV: "I am really pleased with how the last year has gone since the last Luton match. It has gone by so quick and I don't really know where I am at the moment, it is going so fast. I hope I can just keep working hard and progressing." |

"He is a bubbly lad and his character is strange, to say the least," said Moyes. "But it's good to have him back in business as we are in an important period. He's got a winning mentality and good experience and he can give us something different in midfield. "The problem with Tommy is that he came here desperately in need of match practice and he then played for 29 minutes at Bolton when he first arrived. The idea was to get him a little bit more ready for the Premier League. "But he's hardly played since then. He's had no real match practice and he might be in a worse position because of that than when he came from Celtic. "He's been out injured for month. He can make impacts in games, though. We want to get him back ready so that he can start games." |

The Toffees have made a solid start to the new Premier League season while they remain in the Uefa Cup, Carling Cup and have the FA Cup to look forward to in the New Year. Although Everton have opted for loan deals in January in past years, Moyes has stated the nature of their signings this time around will depend on how they progress in the coming months. "We may well look to strengthen the squad in January, if the right players are available," stated Moyes. "We will assess that at the time and see what we can do. In the past it may well have been loan deals for us at this time of year, but a lot will depend on where we are and how things are going. "That will play a part. But I have not been told that there will not be money to spend in January." |

Pistone had trials with Middlesbrough earlier this season and Paolo Fabbri said: "(Middlesbrough boss Gareth) Southgate didn't think he could strengthen his squad. We asked for the trial, but in England it is difficult to find employment if a team isn't expressly interested in testing players. "A concrete offer has come from Leeds United. But League One is unthinkable. Their offer wasn't big enough to take such a risk." |

"Mentally and physically it's been challenging but I have got a great family and kids that keep me focussed and good staff at Everton so the best thing I can do is to work hard and look forward to the future. It's been hard watching from the stands but I've helped my self learn more about my body and the game and it's starting to pay off." |

"We try and choose the system that fits the opposition we are playing, either to combat their system or to cause them problems," Irvine told evertonfc.com. "We will use that system at times and we will use other systems at times. "With Tim's ability it gives us the opportunity to pick and choose our system more than we have been able to." Everton's current squad, bolstered over the summer, now has players able to fulfil a wide range of roles in order to service the team. "It means we can play with one striker with Tim playing behind but there will be plenty of times when we will play with two strikers," said Irvine. "We have the luxury of having a lot of players to choose from and the luxury of being able to switch formations." |

Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United teammate of Neville's, quit the international stage three years ago but is still at the top of his game domestically. He is one of an increasing number of players choosing to take an early break from the demands of the international game - and the Everton skipper can understand why. "It wouldn't surprise me if you see other players going down that route. I've thought about it a number of times," Neville told evertonfc.com. "The demands are such that something has got to give. You're seeing top-class Premiership players retiring from international football when they've still got their best years ahead of them. "For me, playing for England is still the pinnacle and always will be," he added. "Sometimes in life something's got to give and for certain players it's international football. "If you spoke to (England manager) Steve (McClaren), he would probably tell you that the (amount of) football we play in this country hinders his job as well." |

The Everton striker was expecting to receive the green light to resume training after spending four weeks on the sidelines after surgery on an ankle problem. Johnson revealed his determination to recapture his sparkle so he can exorcise the memory of an experience against Metalist Kharkiv he described as one of the worst in his career. "All I care about and all I want to do is play for Everton and hopefully I can now come back better than ever," he told the Liverpool Echo. |
