Paris Saint Germain right back Bernard Mendy has revealed his next challenge could be in The Premier League.

France international Mendy was linked to Celtic in the summer and refused to sign a two-year contract extension last month despite claiming PSG is ‘the club of his heart’.

The Frenchman, who was loaned to Bolton in the 2002/2003 season, is a huge fan of the English top flight and fancies the idea of returning when his contract is over next summer.

“(Returning to The Premier League) is my aim and every footballer’s,” Mendy told FootAnglais365.

“Everybody has their favourite league. As I tasted the English league I want to play there again.

“Playing in England would be the bomb.”

Fans of arch rivals Paris St Germain and Marseille are finally united - although it is mostly in grief, at the respective performances of their sides in the French first division.
Both sides suffered defeats at the hands of Bordeaux and Auxerre respectively, while six-time champions Lyon missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Nancy after snatching a draw at home against Lille.
Bordeaux were one of the biggest winners on Sunday, their 2-0 defeat of PSG at the Parc des Princes leaving them in second spot only a point behind Nancy who top the table on 19 thanks to only one defeat from eight games.
Another unfashionable club, Valenciennes, sit in third with Lyon in fourth a further point behind.
After a glaringly ineffectual performance against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League left the French champions with a 3-0 defeat, Lyon are looking for answers from their coach Alain Perrin.
A lacklustre first half performance from Perrin's men left Lille with a 1-0 half-time lead after Michel Bastos picked up a poor clearance in the Lyon area to drive the ball into the top corner of the net.
Bastos twice came close to earning his second goal early in the second half, but Lyon eventually awoke and after several spurned chances finally levelled the scores through Sidney Govou in the 59th minute.
On Saturday Nancy did enough to ensure their leader's mantle for another week, thoug their victory came late and was thanks to Moroccan international Youssouf Hadji.
Hadji took another step away from the limelight of his older brother Mustapha with two headed goals in the 81st and 87th minutes to give Nancy a 2-0 win over Lorient.
Hadji's dream is to one day play in the English Premiership, where brother Mustapha plied his trade with Coventry City and Aston Villa.
But Nancy will be hoping he goes nowhere fast after he pounced late in a match which could have gone either way. Coach Pablo Correa admitted that a half-time pep talk had done the trick.
"At half-time I told the guys to start playing ugly, to move up a notch. That's what they did, and it helped us grab two great goals," he said. "Playing great football doesn't interest me if we don't get the result we want. But the start we have had to the season is great."
The future of Marseille coach Albert Emon meanwhile is in the balance after the perennial title challengers suffered their fourth defeat of the season with a 2-0 reverse at Auxerre. The match started embarrassingly for Marseille, and just got worse.
Having arrived with only one strip, which happened to be white and the same as the home colours of Auxerre, the visitors had to borrow a different set of strips from their hosts in order to play the game.
Marseille's woes deepened when Daniel Niculae drove Benoit Pedretti's pass at the back post home for the opener in the 18th minute.
Marseille had claimed a 2-0 win over Besiktas in the Champions League in midweek but the reality of domestic football soon came back to haunt them when Niculae grabbed his second only six minutes later.

Alain Cayzac, PSG supremo, remains confident of improvement at the Parc des Princes, although he admitted that he is feeling the pressure of persistent home defeats.

"I slept badly on Sunday evening," he said, following his side's 2-0 collapse against Bordeaux. Nonteheless, he feels that improvement is inevitable under coach Paul le Guen (pictured) and his squad.

"Our home defeats... are for tactical and technical reasons," he insisted.

"That's Paul's job to fix it - I will not interfere," he added, insisting that the club has more "maturity" than to accept or demand a resignation from the embattled coach.

Indeed, Cayzac reiterated his support for the manager, saying, "Le Guen is not a man without pedigree. He has titles, history - I rely on him."

Nonetheless, he made it clear that improvement is not only probable, but a must.

"We will do better than last year," he stated. "After we assure survival, we will rebuild. I hope that our foundations are laid soon."

PSG finished 15th of 20 last season in Ligue 1. They currently lie 13th after 9 gamse.

Paris Saint Germain manager Paul Le Guen has blamed his squad for their poor home record.

PSG suffered their second defeat of the season against in-form Bordeaux on Sunday. France international Johan Micoud and on-fire David Bellion permitted Les Girondins to ruin the host's hopes, as the capital club are 11th in the table after nine matches.

Le Guen is determined to stop the worrying series and is sure his team will shine at home in the near future and please their fans.

The former Rangers boss understands Pauleta’s team-mates need self-confidence and the Brittany manager will try to find a quick solution.

“We are angry with ourselves,” Le Guen declared.

“I would like us to please our fans. We feel they are disappointed.

“No doubt the players are liberated when they play away. But I claim that we can bounce back at home. We need a real mental strength to change the situation. That is the only way to do it.

“Anyway I am behind the players because I think I understand what they are feeling. I have to make them play with more confidence at Parc des Princes.”

Super Scotland stun France in Paris,

Super Scotland have stunned France in Paris with a superb 1-0 win in their Euro2008 qualifier.

Everton attacker James McFadden flashed home a wonderful winner on 64 minutes when his 25-yard strike was palmed into the net by Mikael Landreau.

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon denied the tireless Frank Ribery and Nicolas Anelka with two wonderful second-half saves. Scotland threw an iron curtain around Gordon's goal as Alex McLeish's side were content to concede possession and repel countless French attacks.

McFadden said on Sky Sports 1: "To win at Hampden was a bit of an upset. To come to France and beat them in a qualifier is unbelievable."

Asked if it was Scotland's finest result, he added: "I can't remember. They're up there with the best teams in the world and we've more than held our own and we've got a a win.

"It wasn't pretty at times, we defended well, we were solid and got a goal and won the game."

Of his decision to go for goal in the 64th minute, the Everton midfielder said: "We trained here last night and the balls were flying everywhere so I thought 'why not?"'

McFadden believes Scotland are now on course for a place in Euro 2008.

He added: "We've got a great chance now.

"We've got to believe we can win the rest of the games - why not?"
