"We had courage, aggressiveness and, of course, the will to win. We didn't give anything away, but I have to say that we were not good enough and did not play a good match. "In general, these matches are close affairs, and that was the case this evening. We did well in the aerial duels, but then couldn't make our possession count as we lacked clarity. "But my players showed a great deal of courage, and that is very encouraging," he said. Opposite number Paul le Guen (pictured) was slightly more positive, despite, like Marseille, his side's continued failure to add to their solitary win so far this season. Le Guen said, "I think we made some good play here. We deserved the equaliser after that bad start. "We submitted, conceded too many free kicks, and we lost a goal from one of them. But we made the effort to recover and imposed ourselves gradually on the game. "We created chances and, logically, we equalised. And the remainder of the match was balanced. "It still isn't a great state of affairs, but we have improved from a few weeks ago. We need to be patient and support the players. They must be encouarged to continue their efforts." After the international break, PSG travel to Monaco on Sunday 16th September, while Marseille welcome Toulouse the day before. | ||

It was Cisse's 10th goal in 27 league appearances for Marseille, but only the second this season. Cisse was dropped last week by France coach Raymond Domenech for European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Scotland. Luyindula levelled in the 20th when he met a curling cross from the right with a looping header. The draw kept both clubs in the lower half of the table. PSG is in 13th place with eight points from seven rounds, while Marseille is a point behind in 15th spot. In the final seconds of the match, PSG forward Amara Diane could have won the match but failed to control a ball coming to him at speed. In Sunday's other match, Ivory Coast forward Bakary Kone scored the winning goal in Nice's 1-0 home win over struggling Lens, which is now managed by former France striker Jean-Pierre Papin following Guy Roux's resignation. Kone struck in the 52nd, running onto a pass from Cyril Rool and beating goalkeeper Vedran Runje. Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane missed a chance to level for Lens in the 83rd when he hit the post with a penalty. The win improved Nice into ninth place with 11 points. Lens is 19th in the 20-team league with only two points, but has played only five games. Nancy tops the league with 16 points, Valenciennes is in second place with 14 points, and Bordeaux is third. In Saturday's games, it was: Bordeaux 2, Monaco 1; Caen 2, Sochaux 2; Lyon 3, Le Mans 2; Nancy 2, Saint-Etienne 0; Rennes 2, Lille 2; Strasbourg 0, Lorient 0; Toulouse 2, Auxerre 0, and Valenciennes 0, Metz 0. |

The Cote d'Azur club are currently 15th in the French top flight with just one win in seven outings, but the former Liverpool hitman is adamant that the tide will change. "None of our players is at 100%, that's the problem," Cisse told Marseille's official website. "The solution is to never give up and to keep on fighting. With the quality we have in our squad, things could be much better. We have to all pull together. "When everyone's in top form, we'll be a really good team." OM are flirting dangerous with the relegation zone at this early stage of the season having been touted as potential title challengers over the summer, but Cisse believes the club still remains on track for a solid campaign. "In terms of our goals for the season, it's too early to worry," he said. "If it's like this in December, we'll talk about it then." The France international is adamant that better results will come the way of Albert Emon's men, starting next weekend against high-flying Toulouse. "We'll be at home," Cisse continued. "I'm not anticipating a draw; we have to win. There is no other alternative. "They're a tough team to play. They are solid defensively and can score at any moment against any opposition." |
