The top two clubs, Lyon and Nancy fought out an impressive 1-1 draw early on Saturday with the champions failing to take all three points thanks to a late goal from Chris Malonga. In third, Bordeaux reduced the gap between themselves and the top of the table to six points with a 1-0 win over a lethargic Sochaux. The season's surprise package Caen, up from Ligue 1 last season, moved up into fourth courtesy of a 2-0 victory at home to Strasbourg. Marseille, who are quietly making moves in the middle of the standings, wrapped up an eighth consecutive league game without defeat thanks to a 1-0 win against Le Mans, Mamadou Niang the hero for L'OM. Auxerre and Nice also won 1-0 against Monaco and Valenciennes respectively while, at the bottom of the table, Metz fell to their 14th defeat of the season with a 2-0 reverse at Lorient – a result which led to the dismissal of manager Francis De Taddeo. On Sunday, Toulouse and Rennes failed to find the net in a tactical 0-0 draw with PSG scoring an excellent 1-0 win away at Saint-Etienne. Lens' match against Lille was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. To view the latest Ligue 1 table, click here.
