Former teammate of Mido and Ghaly at Spurs Stephen Kelly

Birmingham full back Stephen Kelly, who was a former teammate for Mido and Ghaly at Totttenham spoke today to the Birmingham Mail regarding the £9m bid from the blues to sign both Egyptians from Tottenham.

Kelly described Mido and Ghaly as top class players and added that the image of Mido as troublesome player is only a misconception.

"Mido is a talented player. He's a world traveller almost already and he's kind of proven himself in every league. the player concluded.

It should be noted that Birmingham's boss Steve Bruce is keen on signing both Egyptians permanently for a fee worth £9m (£6m for Mido and £3m for Ghaly).
According to British souces, both sides agreed on transfer details and the Egyptians will be ready to help their new side in the Premiership which is going to kick off in a couple of weeks.

The only problem that might face both Egyptians is their lack of match practice as both didn't attend preseason preparations with Tottenham.

Birmingham officials are still confident of signing Hossam Ghaly this weekend. However, they can't accept Mido's wage demands.

reports from England revealed that Steve Bruce is still confident of capturing Hossam Ghaly from Tottenham. However, the talks with Mido didn't show any development as the Blues couldn't agree on Mido's wage demands.

It was also claimed that Birmingham wanted to loan Mido but Spurs preferred to let the Egyptian go on a permanent deal to cover the £16m that they spent on Darren Bent this summer.

So, unless Birmingham agrees to pay Mido what he wants or the Egyptian lowers his wage demands, the Egyptian hitman might stay with Spurs for the time being or wait or a better contract from Boro and Fulham who are currently monitoring the situation.

Fulham alerted as Sheffield Wednesday drop Brunt talks

Fulham alerted as Sheffield Wednesday drop Brunt talks
tribalfooball.com - July 27, 2007

Fulham may revive their bid for Sheffield Wednesday winger Chris Brunt. BBC Radio Sheffield says Wednesday have called off negotiations with Brunt over a new deal.
The Northern Ireland international, 22, only has a year left on his contract and was in talks after the Owls rejected a bid from Fulham in June.
But negotiations have broken down between Brunt and the Hillsborough club due to his excessive wage demands.

Fulham boss Sanchez confirms O'Donovan deal

Fulham boss Sanchez confirms O'Donovan deal
tribalfooball.com - July 27, 2007

Fulham are set to sign Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan, boss Lawrie Sanchez has confirmed. The 21-year-old will put the finishing touches to his move to Craven Cottage on Monday after undergoing a medical.
Sanchez sees the Republic of Ireland B international as one for the future and will send him back to Cork on loan until the end of the year.
"O'Donovan's a young lad from Cork who we've agreed a fee for and he's having his medical on Monday," Sanchez said.
"He will then be going back on loan to Cork until the end of their season and then we'll have a look at him.
"He's done very well for Cork but he's definitely a young lad for the future rather than an immediate starting player."

Redknapp hails Portsmouth keeper James after Asia Trophy triumph

Redknapp hails Portsmouth keeper James after Asia Trophy triumph
tribalfooball.com - July 28, 2007

Harry Redknapp once again hailed David James after he turned in another impressive display to help Portsmouth lift the Asia Trophy on Friday. After a goalless 90 minutes against Liverpool, James denied both Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun from 12 yards as Pompey held their nerve to triumph in the pre-season tournament in Hong Kong that also featured Fulham and local side South China.

But it was during normal time that the 36-year-old truly excelled - a fantastic reflex stop to keep out a powerful close-range header from Dirk Kuyt in the first half and one almost as good to deny Torres in the second the highlights of another impressive display.
And his exploits in keeping the Reds at bay not only earned him the player of the tournament award but also another glowing endorsement from his boss.
"It's what I always say, he is the best goalkeeper in England and we're very fortunate to have him," enthused Redknapp.
"I spoke to Dave Beasant, who was a great goalkeeper and is the goalkeeping coach at Fulham, and he said he's worth 15 points for the team and he is not exaggerating - he is that good."
