Leverkusen came away from the Olympiastadion with a valuable 3-0 victory over Hertha Berlin.

The lead was given to them after half an hour by injury returnee Carsten Ramelow, who fired in an unstoppable shot following some confusion in the Berlin back row after a free-kick. A second goal arrived five minutes into the second half after some good build up play from Barbarez and Freier. Barnetta was the recipient slotting in easily from close range.

Insult was added to injury in the final minute when Sergei Barbarez scored a third after good work from Bernd Schneider, who was making his long-awaited return from injury.
