Dortmund bring down champions

Borussia Dortmund get some room to breathe by defeating Bundesliga champions VfB Stuttgart in their second away win of the season.

Coach Thomas Doll's squad were victorious over VfB Stuttgart 2-1 (1-1) and have gained some self-confidence to take into the end stretch of the second leg of the season.

Dortmund move ahead

Mladen Petric scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, allowing BVB to gain their first win after a drought of eight weeks. For Stuttgart, the loss means an end to a four-match winning streak in the Bundesliga.

The visitors went up in the eleventh minute off a goal by Nelson Valdez, but Stuttgart were able to equalise before the half when captain Fernando Meira scored his first goal of the season in the 35th minute.

VfB Stuttgart 1 Borussia Dortmund 2

An entertaining match at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion finished with Dortmund inflicting a 2-1 defeat on VfB- their second of the season at home for the Swabians.

The first half saw both teams, but predominantly Dortmund attacking and it was the visitors who took the lead after 11 minutes. A Dede cross was turned into his own net by an unlucky Delpierre.

However VfB were back on level terms before the interval with Fernando heading in a Hitzlsperger corner on 35 minutes. The second half proved just as entertaining as the first, and Dortmund scored a second with 12 minutes remaining.

Kringe laid the ball off to Federico, whose low cross picked out Petric coming in on the far post to slot in. The defeat is Stuttgart's second home loss of the season and has brought to an end their recent revival.

Bundesliga Round-Up: Werder Go Top, Cottbus Off The Bottom
Werder Bremen beat Hamburg 2-1 in the Nord-derby to go top of the league- albeit for 24 hours. There were important wins for Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund.

Energie Cottbus grabbed a rare win, which has taken them off the bottom of the pile.

Dortmund scores six

Borussia fired on every cylinders, celebrating its biggest Bundesliga win in six years. With a spectacular performance the BVB played its best game of the season, leaving many frustrating weeks behind.

Borussia went into the game knowing, it had to give all their supportive fans something back. And they delivered something very special. Coach Thomas Doll's team beat a helpless Arminia Bielefeld 6-1 (2-0) in the Westfalen derby.

Tinga scores first

In winning its second game in the row afer defeating reigning German champion Stuttgart 2-1 last week, Dortmund got closer to the upper half of the standings. Bielefeld though is looking at a tough second half of the season.

Arminia won only one of its last eleven matches. Coached by Ernst Middendorp, the team got only one point out of its last seven away games, scoring only twice and allowing 26 in the process.

Brazilian international Tinga opened the scoring in the 13th minute, giving the 80,000 in attendance the first reason to cheer. Bielefeld's Markus Schuler scored six minutes later - only it was the wrong goal. His own goal gave Dortmund a 2-0 halftime lead.

Bielefeld scared

Things got worse for the guest team in the second half. Mladen Petric scored his eighth goal of the season right after the break (47th). Nelson Valdez extended the lead in the 55th minute on a penalty shot. Florian Kringe (61st) and Giovanni Federico (67th) sealed the deal. In the 81st minute Oliver Koch scored the lone goal for Bielefeld.

The fans at Westfalen Stadium celebrated their team with standing ovations. It was Dortmund's biggest win since March 2, 2001, when the BVB defeated Eintracht Frankfurt also by a score of 6-1. Arminia on the other side had to go through its second nightmare of the season, losing 1-8 to Bremen a few weeks ago.

And it got even better when Tinga gave Dortmund the lead in the 13th minute

The Brazilian (R) got celebrated by his teammates

There seemed to be no end to the big party. No wonder...

...Borussia Dortmund scored at will on Friday. Mladen Petric netted for the eighth time this season

While Petric and Nelson Valdez have a very good time, Bielefeld's players are shocked

Nelson Valdez scored the BVB's fourth goal on a penalty shot. One man, one goal...

Six-goal Dortmund hammer home resurgence

Written by: AFP

Borussia Dortmund´s Kroatian midfielder Mladen Petric celebrates after scoring during a September 2007 match. Borussia Dortmund crushed hapless Arminia Bielefeld 6-1 on Friday to continue their recent Bundesliga resurgence.

BERLIN (AFP) - Borussia Dortmund crushed hapless Arminia Bielefeld 6-1 on Friday to continue their recent Bundesliga resurgence.

A week after beating champions Stuttgart 2-1, Thomas Doll's side registered their first home six-goal win in six years with Croatian striker Mladen Petric finding the net for the eighth time this season.

Brazilian star Tinga opened the scoring in the 13th minute before an own goal from Markus Schuler extended their advantage.

Petric, Nelson Valdez, with a penalty, Florian Kringe and Giovanni Federico added four more goals in 20 second-half minutes as Borussia moved into ninth place in the table ahead of Saturday's matches.

Bayern Munich, who lead the table by one point from Werder Bremen, take on promoted Duisburg on Saturday while Werder travel to Hanover.

hahaa.
Egypt Man you are right.
When they win 1-0. They end up losing 2-0.
Then they win 6-1 and end up losing 4-0
