Mohamed Zidan helped HSV emerge winners from their away clash with Duisburg. The game ended in a 0-1 win and the goalscorer was Vincent Kompany who also scored te winning goal versus Bergen in the UEFA cup. Zizou played from the start and came off in the 73rd minute.

Mohamed Zidan's HSV won in the DFB Pokal (German cuup) by three goals to one. Matmour scored an early goal for the guests in the 11th minute but Trochowski managed to equalize for HSV six minutes later. In the 2nd half, Olic scored for HSV to make the score 2-1 while Van der Vaart added the 3rd from a penalty kick in the stoppage time. ZXidan played the game from the start and was taken off near the end as Moting replaced him. The Egyptian had a decent game and went close in the 2nd half as he firedt a rising shot at goal after dribbling into the box but his shot

Mohamed Zidan's Hamburger SV faced Freiburg on Wednesday night in the German Cup (DFB Pokal). Zidan and his teammates didn't have much trouble defeating their opponents despite conceding an early goal as the difference in class was obvious between the two teams.
Zidan played the game from the start despite the return of Guerrero from injury. The Peruvian played the role of the lone striker while Zizou played the role of support man behind him.
Zidan didn't get close chances to score in the first half. However, he was involved in the build up of some attacks.
HSV put their opponents under pressure from the kick off but a mistake from defense led to an early goal to Freiburg. The goal came through a poor pass which led to a cross from the right wing into the near post. Freiburg's forward Matmour was well positioned in front of goal and headed the ball home before the goalkeeper of HSV to make the score 0-1.
Just six minutes after the goal, Trochowsk managed to level te score from a well placed low shot from the edge of the box.

HSV continued to control the gameplay in the first half but they couldn't score any more goals till the 2nd half where Olic managed to score from a powerful header in the 52nd minute.
After the 2nd goal, Zidan got his best chance in the game when he dribbled past his marker from the right side of the box and tried a powerful shot from narrow angle but his shot went into the side netting.
In the 90th minute, Gurrero won a penalty kick for HSV as he was pushed in his chest by his marker just inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. The substitute Van der Vaart converted the spot kick with ease to make the score 3-1.

Mohamed Zidan came on as sub for Guerrero in the 67th minute of HSV's home match versus Hertha Bsc which ended in a 2-1 win for the homeside. Guerrero scored the first goal for HSV while Hertha managed to equalize in the 59th minute. However, Reinhardt headed home a few minutes later to grant HSV a precious win which kept them in the 2nd spot with two points only away from the leaders, Bayern Munich.

Mohamed Zidan played as starter in the past few matches. However, he didn't start in the home clash with Hertha BSC on Saturday after the return of Rafael Van der Vaart. The Egyptian played out of position lately as he played the role of left winger, right winger and support man in the latest few matches and so, he couldn't get in a good position to score goals.
Hamburger SV on the other hand are currently on top form and they managed to keep their form against Hertha BSC as they won by two goals to one which put them two points away from Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table as the Bavarians failed to win against Frankfurt and their home game ended in 0-0 draw.
Generally. HSV were the better side and created alot more chances than Hertha. The first goal in the game came early on through Guerrero who found himself left with a simple finish and scored in the 4th minute.
Guerrero almost added a 2nd goal when he fired a volley shot at goal but his shot was denied by the bar. Minutes later, Olic sent a shot with his left but the post denied him and another chance went begging.

In the second half, the guests equalized through Ebert who sent a poweful shot with his right from inside the box into the far corner.
In the 67th minute, Zidan came on to help in attack as he replaced Guerrero. The Egyptian helped his side reclaim their lead although he didn't get involved in the build up of the goal which came in the 81st minute through the defender Reinhardt who headed the ball home from close range after a cross from the right wing by Vander Vaart.
Hopefully, Zizou will be able to score in the coming games as the Egyptian was extremely unlucky not to score for HSV since the kick off of this season apart from his goal versus Bayern Munich.

Hamburger SV are second and just two points behind FC Bayern. bundesliga.de about the secret of success.

The goalkeeper

Frank Rost has conceded just nine goals this season and has kept already six clean sheets - only Bayern's goalkeepers Oliver Kahn and Michael Rensing (combined) have been better in that respect.

Rost thinks that the team stands behind the club's great run. "The mutual respect is there, from the board to the coach to the team to the cleaning lady. That enables us to talk about awkward things. It's no problem, it's dealt with frankly."

The defence

Rost's clean sheets surely are down to the defenders in front of him, too. Central defender Joris Mathijsen has played the full 90 minutes in all twelve matches, and rightly so. 74 clearances in Hamburg's penalty area make impressive reading.

Bastian Reinhardt is not only solid at the back, but has also chipped in with two goals, including the winning goal against Hertha on Saturday.

Thimothee Atouba isn't shy of one-on-one duels. 101 in just eight matches are more than any of his team-mates have had. And then there's Vincent Kompany, who has won 68 per cent of his one-on-one duels and scored the winning goal in Duisburg.

"Football is a team sport. Of course Huub Stevens is happy to have strong individual players like Rafael van der Vaart", Rost analyses. "But within a team it's important that the so-called stars don't forget that it won't work without the guys in the engine room doing the dirty work."

The midfield

974 minutes played make David Jarolim the endurance runner in midfield, and 89 per cent completed passes and 63 per cent one-on-one duels won are excellent statistics!

Piotr Trochowski has succeeded with 84 per cent of his passes, and the German international has already created two goals this season.

But HSV's linchpin is Rafael van der Vaart. Seven goals in seven successive matches - only HSV legend Uwe Seeler had managed to do that before.

"I'm delighted for Rafael, because every goal he scores for HSV is important", Seeler said.

But van der Vaart is also important as a provider. 30 per cent of his 91 crosses reached a team-mate, and he also chipped in with 94 defensive one-on-one duels.

The attack

Ivica Olic managed to score a first-half hat-trick against Stuttgart - the first time in Bundesliga history a HSV player had managed to do that in one half and without any other goals in between!

"Ivi is incredibly hard-running and often does the dirty work", team-mate Jarolim rings the praises. "I give my best in every match. When I defend up front, the opposing team don't have a rest and our defence a bit less to do", Olic explains.

Paolo Guerrero has not only scored two Bundesliga goals, he has also bagged four in Europe. And then there's Mohamed Zidan, who has already tried 26 dribblings in ten matches. (egypt man stat for you)

At the end it will be decisive if HSV can preserve their togetherness as a team over the complete season. And if they do, glory days could be just around the corner for Huub Stevens' team.
