Four days after qualifiying for the Champions League's next round, the "Royal Blues" defeated 1. FC Nurnberg 2-1 (2-0). After leaving Schalke without a win for the 14th straight year and with their fifth consecutive road loss, the "Club" finds itself in deep trouble again.

In front of a crowd of 61,482 in the sold-out arena Gerald Asamoah scored Schalke's first goal in the 14th minute. He did the same on Tuesday in the Champions League match against Trondheim. Schalke's second strike came on an own-goal. Marco Engelhardt beat his own goaltender in the 35th minute.

After the break the guest squad played more aggressive and was able to score in Angelos Charisteas' goal in the 55th minute. Schalke had huge problems containing Nuremberg, but got away with three important points.

Schalke's coach Mirko Slomka started all three "Disco Boys". Mladen Krstajic, Ivan Rakitic, and Jermaine Jones were all suspended after a night out in Duisburg. The suspension was lifted later on.

The first half was all Schalke as Slomka's team played nearly flawless and finally was able to convert on two of the many chances. Asamoah scored on a header after a beautiful pass from Heiko Westermann. Engelhardt tried to clear a pass from Rafinha, but netted an own-goal instead.

The "Club" played much improved in the second half. Schalke totally lost its rythm and was lucky, when Zvejzdan Misimovic was denied by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the 62nd minute. IN the 90th minute Marek Mintal's shot hit the post.

2007 winners AC Milan

Title holders AC Milan will face 2006 runners-up Arsenal while last season's finalists Liverpool take on Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

The Rossoneri, who won two Champions League titles in five years, will have a tough task against an in-form Arsenal side, who top the Premiership standings.

Italian champions Inter also got an unfavorable draw, having been paired with Liverpool. Rafael Benitez's men always prove to be formidable in knock-outs.

Spanish giants Barcelona will be pleased with the outcome of the draw as they were paired against Scottish champions Celtic.

Although Celtic are difficult to beat at home, they aren't likely to make an upset against the star-studded Barcelona.

Barcelona to face Celtic

Real Madrid, who hold the record for the most Champions League triumphs with nine titles, face the ambitious Roma.

Premiership holders Manchester United will play French counterparts Lyon as they aim to capture Europe's premier competition for the first time since 1999.

Chelsea, who reached the semi-finals three times in the last four seasons, tackle Greek side Olympiakos.

Round of 16 will also witness a relatively balanced contest between Germany's Schalke and Portuguese champions Porto.

Sevilla, who won the UEFA Cup two times in a row, take on Turkish side Fenerbahce.

I'll give you my thoughts on the draw.

Barcelona vs. Celtic: I actually look for this to be closer than the experts think. If Celtic can hold their own at Celtic Park I actually think they could give Barcelona.

1st Leg: 1-0 Celtic. 2nd Leg: 2-0 Barca. Winner: Barcelona

Man United vs. Lyon: I'm a little concerned for United. They'll be coming away from the Manchester so they may be a little rattled before the 1st leg. The second leg is in between games against 2 struggling teams.

1st Leg:0-0 Draw. 2nd Leg: 3-0 United. Winner: United.

Porto vs. Schalke: Tough one. Like everyone says this may be an instant classic that's under the radar.

1st Leg: 2-1 Schalke. 2nd Leg: 2-1 Porto. Winner: Porto after extra time.

Inter vs. Liverpool: Very good. I was secretly hoping this might happen. `Pool is gonna put up on heck of a fight. I'm gonna be watching this one. To great stadiums involved too. San Siro & Anfield. I'm gonna go with an upset.

1st Leg: 0-0 Draw. 2nd Leg: 1-1 Draw. Winner: Liverpool on away goals.

Real Madrid vs. Roma: Madrid won't have to much of a problem. They just need to stay healthy.

1st Leg: 1-0 Madrid. 2nd Leg: 2-1 Madrid. Winner: Real Madrid.

Milan vs. Arsenal: Strap your seat belts. Had Arsenal won their group this could very well be the final. I'm not sure. Arsenal has been a little shaky away from Emirates. However, Milan hasn't looked to great at all this year, especially at San Siro. Anybody's guess is as good as mine.

1st Leg: 2-1 Arsenal. 2nd Leg: 1-0 Milan. Winner: Milan on away goals.

Chelsea vs. Olympiacos: Not close Chelsea may be able to even bother trying.

1st Leg: 1-0 Chelsea. 2nd Leg: 1-0 Chelsea. Winner: Chelsea

Sevilla vs. Fenerbahce: Again a very good looking side in Sevilla may sleep walk through this.

1st Leg: 2-0 Sevilla. 2nd Leg: 2-0 Sevilla. Winner: Sevilla.
