Wha a dangerous tackle, these ladies are naughty as well, no card, just a penalty, she shoots, the balls hits the volley and right into the keepers hands.

7 mins left of the game.

Brazil with more missed chances. Germany defending. And they are also under pressure.

German National Team Latest news

Quote:
Germany's first-choice goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has slammed his predecessor in the national number one shirt Oliver Kahn and emphasised his dislike for the Bayern Munich captain.

"He takes himself far too seriously and thinks he is very important," Arsenal 'keeper Lehmann told German weekly magazine Der Spiegel.

Lehmann replaced Kahn as Germany's goalkeeper during last summer's World Cup in Germany and the Bayern Munich man has not played for his country since.

Kahn, who is recovering after elbow surgery in the United States last week, said in a recent interview that he "doubts there will be another era of famous goalkeepers in the German shirt."

The egotistical Kahn only holds goalkeeping legends such as Sepp Maier, Toni Schumacher, Bodo Illgner or even himself as worthy of a golden era of world-class players in Germany's number one shirt.

"I don't like it when someone glorifies themself," said 37-year-old Lehmann, who is on the bench at Arsenal even though he has recovered from his own elbow and achilles tendon injuries.

Kahn has previously said the German national team's goalkeeper has to be the first-choice shot-stopper for his club.

"You don't have a chance to win your place in the German side if you can't hold down your place with your club," said Kahn.

Lehmann aims to win back his Arsenal shirt after next Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin followed by the showdown with Group D rivals the Czech Republic four days later in Munich.

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger says he will "have him back in the side" after the Euro 2008 games with Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia currently wearing the north London club's number one shirt.

German National Team Latest news

Hannover striker Mike Hanke has reacted with disbelief at his latest ommission from Joachim Löw’s Germany squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Hanke has scored four Bundesliga goals so far for his new club but has not been included in the squad for the matches with the Republic of Ireland and the Czech Republic.

Cologne striker Patrick Helmes has once again been preferred, despite the fact he plays in the second division and has only scored twice this season.

“I don't want to even comment on the fact that Helmes has been called up and not me” Hanke said. “You can interpret that however you want.”

Hanke last played for Germany in February in the friendly with Switzerland and was also a member of the 2006 World Cup squad.

Many observers had been calling for his selection, following his fine start to the season. However Löw has decided to stick with Helmes, who made his debut in March.

Germany midfielder Tim Borowski will play no part in his country's Group D matches against the Republic of Ireland and the Czech Republic because of back problems. The 27-year-old Borowski only returned to the Werder Bremen lineup for last week's UEFA Champions League defeat by Olympiacos CFP after knee ligament damage. He also played against MSV Duisburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

German National Team Latest news

Two players from German Champions VfB Stuttgart return to the 19-men squad of the German U 21 team for the next EC-qualifiers: Sami Khedira and Serdar Tasci. The team of coach Dieter Eilts play Israel in Tel Aviv on October 12th (3 pm) and against Moldova in Pirmasens four days later (8.15 pm).

"With the two matches in Israel and against Moldova we reached a very important phase of the EC qualifying round very early. Of course, we hope have a place at the top of the table after the double header", said Eilts on Friday.

Team captain Eugen Polanski from Borussia Mönchengladbach (16 caps) is the team's most experienced player. Jerome Boateng (Hamburger SV) could give his debut in the U 21. Marko Marin (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Mesut Özil (FC Schalke 04) and Bernd Nehrig (SpVgg Greuther Fürth) were nominated again.

The Germans played Israel once. Ten years ago the match in Herzliya ended with a draw (1-1). Germany and Moldova faced each other four times. Germany won three matches, one match ended in a draw.

Further information on the U 21 can be found here.

czech republic lost to them at home , i dont think theyll be able to beat them away from home . they need to wake up and play some attacking football instead of playing 4-5-1.
