Hughes given permission to speak to Manchester City

LONDON, June 2 (Reuters) - Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes has been given permission to speak to Manchester City about their vacant manager’s post, the club said on Monday.

Rovers confirmed on their Web site (Home | Blackburn Rovers) that they had been approached by their fellow Premier League club after Sven-Goran Eriksson left City by mutual consent earlier on Monday.

“Mark has made it clear to the Board that he would like the opportunity to talk to Manchester City,” a Rovers statement said.

“In view of this we have decided to reluctantly give permission subject to terms and conditions.”

Eriksson left after less than a year in charge.
