Canadian Soccer Association

The Canadian Soccer Association is the governing body of soccer (football) in Canada. It organizes the senior men's and women's national teams for international play, as well as the respective junior sides (U-20 and U-17 for men and women). Internally it looks over national amateur club championships for both Senior Men and Senior Women, U-18, U-16 and U-14 (all levels boys and girls).

The Canadian Soccer Association was involved in the hosting of the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, held in six cities across Canada.

I played for my High School soccer squad last year, and play competetively for another team, although I play with a group of guys a year older then me so I don't get to play much.

Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League
Concludes Showcase Season
Before Capacity Crowd
Winnipeg, MB – (April 1, 2007) - The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League concluded its Showcase Season at the MTS Centre this afternoon.
A capacity crowd of 7,727 were on hand to watch the hometown Winnipeg Alliance FC bow 2-0 to the Edmonton Drillers in the CMISL's final Showcase Season Match.
The Drillers posted victories of 6-1 and 2-1 to sweep the match. CMISL Showcase Season Matches consist of two, four 10-minute quarter games, with the winner of the match being determined in a shootout should the teams split the two games.
In the first game, Todd Rattee, Eddy Sidra and Phil Pavacic all beat Winnipeg ‘keeper Steve Sawatzky as the Driller rolled up a 3-0 lead.
Following a scoreless second, Alliance FC midfielder Jordan Goetting spoiled Tristan Ilko's shutout bid at 8:45 of the third. John Konye and Oliver Brkin padded the Drillers lead with goals a minute and 18 seconds apart later in the quarter. Mark Spiller added an unassisted tally with 31 seconds to play and close out the Edmonton scoring.
Spiller and Pavacic scored their second goals of the afternoon to pace the Drillers to victory in the second game of the doubleheader. Goetting replied with his second tally of the match for Winnipeg .
Attendance for the match exceeded Alliance FC owner Bill Stewart's expectations by a significant margin.
"I'm extremely excited by how Winnipeg has embraced the indoor," Stewart said. “Initially, I projected an attendance of between 4,000 and 5,000 for the game. This is a clear indication the CMISL has a very bright future in this city.”

Canada to play South Africa in November

Canada's men's national team announced today that they will travel to Durban, South Africa for an international friendly match in November. The first-ever match between the two nations will occur a few days before the draw for FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 qualifications.

"We are delighted to have been invited to play the hosts of the 2010 World Cup in Durban," said Canadian coach Dale Mitchell. "South Africa are looking to build a strong team and will provide a good test in our final match of 2007."

Not only will this be Canada's first-ever match against South Africa, it will also be Canada's first trip to the African continent in four and a half years. Canada defeated Libya 4:2 back on 12 February 2003 in Tripoli, Libya.

The South Africa match will be Canada's 10th this season. Canada has four wins, three draws and two losses in 2007. All four of their wins have come on the road, three of which were at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June. Under newly appointed head coach Dale Mitchell, Canada has two draws - one in Ísland and one in Toronto at BMO Field.

Canada's men's senior team is currently ranked third amongst all CONCACAF countries in the September 2007 FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings. Next year, Canada will begin their qualifications road for the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010.
