I played for my High School soccer squad last year, and play competetively for another team, although I play with a group of guys a year older then me so I don't get to play much.

Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League Winnipeg, MB – (April 1, 2007) - The Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League concluded its Showcase Season at the MTS Centre this afternoon.Concludes Showcase Season Before Capacity Crowd A capacity crowd of 7,727 were on hand to watch the hometown Winnipeg Alliance FC bow 2-0 to the Edmonton Drillers in the CMISL's final Showcase Season Match. The Drillers posted victories of 6-1 and 2-1 to sweep the match. CMISL Showcase Season Matches consist of two, four 10-minute quarter games, with the winner of the match being determined in a shootout should the teams split the two games. In the first game, Todd Rattee, Eddy Sidra and Phil Pavacic all beat Winnipeg ‘keeper Steve Sawatzky as the Driller rolled up a 3-0 lead. Following a scoreless second, Alliance FC midfielder Jordan Goetting spoiled Tristan Ilko's shutout bid at 8:45 of the third. John Konye and Oliver Brkin padded the Drillers lead with goals a minute and 18 seconds apart later in the quarter. Mark Spiller added an unassisted tally with 31 seconds to play and close out the Edmonton scoring. Spiller and Pavacic scored their second goals of the afternoon to pace the Drillers to victory in the second game of the doubleheader. Goetting replied with his second tally of the match for Winnipeg . Attendance for the match exceeded Alliance FC owner Bill Stewart's expectations by a significant margin. "I'm extremely excited by how Winnipeg has embraced the indoor," Stewart said. “Initially, I projected an attendance of between 4,000 and 5,000 for the game. This is a clear indication the CMISL has a very bright future in this city.” |
