Yu Dabao vai fazer parte do plantel encarnado para a próxima época, fazendo cair por terra a busca por um novo avançado. O atacante contratado, na última época, ao Quingdao Hailifeng para reforçar a equipa júnior tem deixado excelentes indicações a Fernando Santos, e o técnico não teve dúvidas em informar a SAD de que não será necessário mais nenhum investimento para reforçar o sector mais adiantado. Yu Dabao já estava na calha para se integrar na digressão aos EUA, mas uma arreliadora lesão num tornozelo gorou essa possibilidade. Depois de ter brilhado ao serviço dos juniores, o ponta-de-lança tem feito jus ao investimento – custou uma verba a rondar os 400 mil euros – e vem mostrando qualidade, dia após dia, no estágio de pré-temporada do emblema da Luz.

Com a chegada de Bergessio e Cardozo, Fernando Santos poderá contar com as mais variadas soluções no ataque, uma vez que Mantorras e Nuno Gomes lhe abrem um leque de categoria. Yu Dabao vem fechar, desta forma, a frente atacante encarnada para 2007/08 com uma mão-cheia de "artistas", com características para todos os gostos, a pedido do técnico benfiquista.

I'm pleased about this for different reasons. Yu Dabao can go back to China for all I care he sucks. But Mantorras just needs playing time, I won't be happy to see him in another team's jersey but the fact is he needs the minutes.

O Benfica venceu o Nacional da Madeira por 1-0 no jogo de inauguração do Cristiano Ronaldo Campus. O avançado chinês Yu Dabao marcou o único golo da partida.

Numa partida em que o técnico espanhol José Antonio Camacho aproveitou para lançar vários jovens na equipa, acabou por ser o avançado chinês a dar a vitória aos encarnados aos 86 minutos, na recarga a um remate de Mantorras à barra da baliza de Bracalli.

No final da partida, o técnico espanhol mostrou-se satisfeito pela exibição dos mais jovens, lembrando que o objectivo era colocar toda a gente a jogar.

Benfica striker Yu Dabao is delighted to be involved with China's Olympic preparations programme. Yu has been prevented by Benfica on previous occasions to join Ratomir Dujkovic's squad and the youngster said: "Benfica haven't allowed me in other times, but now they've given me a chance and allowed me to come, even though these games (against USA) are not included in the official football calendar.
"I know that I will not have much time to train and play with my buddies, so I'll grab every minute to show my game."
Also in Dujkovic's squad are Vitesse Arnhem prospect Yu Hai and Manchester United striker Dong Fangzhuo.

Benfica starlet Yu Dabao happy to move away on-loan

Benfica are sending their Chinese striker Yu Dabao away on-loan in January.

The 19 year-old China U23 international will join Aves on-loan to the end of the season. "I'm very happy with this option," said Yu. "It will give me the chance to improve as a player and hopefully help me return to Benfica a better prospect."

Benfica's three promising youngsters, Miguel Vítor, Romeu Ribeiro and Yu Dabao, are on their way to Vila das Aves (Clube Desportivo Aves) for a loan deal until the end of the season and they will be joining the their new team mate's today. Naturally, the youngsters are thinking about coming back to the Luz, where Romeu Ribeiro admited on Rádio Renascença.

"My goal is to be back at Benfica. The loan is for me to improve as a player and gain more experience, this is the principal motive to go to Desportivo Aves."
