He is a left back, who can also play at centre back.

He showed great leadership qualities at under 21 level, where he was captain.

Yes , I saw him in the U21 Euro , he does have great leadership qualities , I still can't forget that match between Italy and Portugal that was going to decide who goes through to the Beijing olypmpics , amazing really , Rossi got a red card but Italy still managed to take it to P.K and remarkably they won although Portugal had most of the poseesion and Italy were defending most of the time after Rossi got sent off.

I saw that game too :) Sub 21 Italy-Portugal last summer.

Chiellini also showed that the pressure of a big match didn't get to him in the Euro 2008. For me he was the best player of the Spain-Italy match.
