Zoro ~ To Be loaned out in January
Zoro back in training
![]() The squad resumed their training this afternoon which was was led by Fernando Chalana, now without Fernando Santos and his assistant Jorge Rosário. The main talking point being the return of Marc Zoro and Angel Di María, both who completed their training with few exercises on and off the ball. Seven players marked absent from this session. Moreira and Luisão joined Petit and Léo in the injury list, whilst Quim, Nuno Gomes and Katsouranis are away representing their respective nations. Source: Planet Benfica: Zoro back in training |

I never wish an injury on a player and I hope he gets back soon but I can never see him as one of our regulars. David Luis and Luisao are our main centre backs. Leo is our left back and Nelson/ Luis Felipe right back.

Romeu Ribeiro, Miguel Vitor and Yu Dabao are also set to be loaned out, and all to Desportivo das Aves in the division below. Marc Zoro and Andres Diaz are also to be considered to move either permanently or temporarily in January

Zoro included in preliminary Ivory Coast squad for CAN
![]() Defender Marc Zoro has been called by Ivory Coast trainer Uli Stielike into the preliminary 26 man squad for the African Cup of Nations. The competition which is hosted by Ghana begins on 20th of January, ending on the 10th of February. The Ivorian has not played a single minute in the Liga under Camacho playing only Taça da Liga matches with other reserves however he still has the confidence of the national team's coach. |

Zoro and Bergessio to leave
Zoro and Bergessio to leave
Zoro and Bergessio were two additions made to the squad this season, but their careers at Benfica have quickly come to an end. Both are out of Camacho's plan and have already received permission from the club to join the squad later for training. Zoro, defender from Ivory Coast, was signed from Messina (Italy) at the start of the season but has not been able to convince Camacho and has become dispensable by the club. The problem is that the «number 17» has one of the highest salaries of the squad, and with four and a half years still left on his contract, he will only arrange to leave if he is offered the same wage structure or higher by another club. Metz (France) were one of the clubs who showed interest in signing Zoro but it is assumed they do not have the capacity to pay his current salary. The player has stated he would rather leave for definite than to be loaned. The central-defender has been authorized to stay in Ivory Coast, where he is on holiday, for a few more days. He is to participate at a charity game in the capital Abidjan and will return to Lisbon before the New Year. Bergessio has also been given permission to stay in holiday until the 2nd of January as his future is still in contention. "I am awaiting instructions from Benfica. Nothing has been decided yet." The Argentinian striker is much wanted by clubs from his country (San Lorenzo, Independiente and River Plate) and may continue his career in his homeland, but he also might have the possibility to go to Spain or France. Brazilian midfielder Andrés Diáz, ex-Rosario Central, will join the squad on the 2nd of January as negotiations are still ongoing with a club from the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. |
