Mido Sold For 6 Mill?

What does everyone think to Mido being sold for £6 000 000?
I think they have panick buyed and could have found a young, better player. I think he will be a flop at Birmingham just like at Totenham

ok maybe hes a bit fat but thats just because spurs got berbatov and that made it hard for mido to start the season

he did start it 10 kg lower than the previous one so its not his fault that spurs didnt play him

Former teammate of Mido and Ghaly at Spurs Stephen Kelly

Birmingham full back Stephen Kelly, who was a former teammate for Mido and Ghaly at Totttenham spoke today to the Birmingham Mail regarding the £9m bid from the blues to sign both Egyptians from Tottenham.

Kelly described Mido and Ghaly as top class players and added that the image of Mido as troublesome player is only a misconception.

"Mido is a talented player. He's a world traveller almost already and he's kind of proven himself in every league. the player concluded.

It should be noted that Birmingham's boss Steve Bruce is keen on signing both Egyptians permanently for a fee worth £9m (£6m for Mido and £3m for Ghaly).
According to British souces, both sides agreed on transfer details and the Egyptians will be ready to help their new side in the Premiership which is going to kick off in a couple of weeks.

The only problem that might face both Egyptians is their lack of match practice as both didn't attend preseason preparations with Tottenham.

The transfer deal of Mido and Ghaly has been finalized and both players should complete the transfer tomorrow (Wednesday).

According to teamTalk, Birmingham manager Steve Bruce expects to wrap up the signings of Tottenham pair Mido and Hossam Ghaly within the next 24 hours.

This was also confirmed by Hossam Ghaly who spoke to Egyptian TV and revealed that he agreed terms with Birmingham and will travel tomorrow to England to undergo the medical and put pen on paper.

The Egyptian added that he accepted the deal right away as he will play regularly and in his original position at the heart of midfield.
On the other side, Birmingham City chairman David Gold reveaved that working with coach Steve Bruce was the main reason for Mido to accept Blues offer. The chairman described Mido's signing as a fantastic move and a real coup for the club.

Gold described Mido's signing as one of the biggest signings for the club this summer: "It could turn out to be one of the signings of the summer.

"It's not easy to attract quality players here as we are not looked on as a glamorous side. He added

"But this shows Steve is not just well liked, but is respected as well - and that he has the pulling power to attract players like Mido." The Blues boss concluded.

Birmingham officials are still confident of signing Hossam Ghaly this weekend. However, they can't accept Mido's wage demands.

reports from England revealed that Steve Bruce is still confident of capturing Hossam Ghaly from Tottenham. However, the talks with Mido didn't show any development as the Blues couldn't agree on Mido's wage demands.

It was also claimed that Birmingham wanted to loan Mido but Spurs preferred to let the Egyptian go on a permanent deal to cover the £16m that they spent on Darren Bent this summer.

So, unless Birmingham agrees to pay Mido what he wants or the Egyptian lowers his wage demands, the Egyptian hitman might stay with Spurs for the time being or wait or a better contract from Boro and Fulham who are currently monitoring the situation.

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce spoke today about the delay in signing Mido and Ghaly. The manager confirmed that Mido is miles away from signing for Blues but he stressed that he didn't give up on signing the Egyptian's compatriot at Spurs, Ghaly.

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce admitted that he is losing hope in signing Egyptian striker Mido as he described the deal as "a million miles away" from being completed.

Bruce added that a "few issues" - but more than just agreeing personal terms - appear to have resulted in the deal not going through.

Suggested reasns maybe the player's high wage demand, length of the contract and some clauses in the contract that Mido didn't agree to sign unless Blues officials modify these clauses.

"It is more than just personal terms. There are a few issues. It is a big blow and I have felt better. The more quality players you can sign the better. Said Bruce

"It looks as if we are really struggling with the Mido deal and I might have to look elsewhere. He added
On the other side, Bruce didn't exclude the possibility of signing Ghaly, he addmitted though that there are some other issues that delayed the transfer.

"As for Ghaly, it is faltering a little but I am still hopeful of reviving that deal. I haven't given up hope."

Blues coach Steve Bruce revealed that Mido asked for a clause in his contract which Birmingham officials didn't agree on. The clause is a buy-out release clause to allow him leave for a certain fee if another club offered that amount of cash for him

Birmingham Mail revealed that a buy-out release clause was the main hurdle that prevented Mido's transfer from going through. In addition to this, other issues relating to relegation and agents fees added to the dilemma.

Today Bruce said: "Unfortunately it does look as if we are drifting away. I've tried my best, the club have tried their best and we will attempt to persevere with it.

"There is a lot of work to be done and we might have to look elsewhere, which would be a shame. But you never know." He added.

On Ghaly, Bruce was cautiously optimistic in his comments as he said:
"We had meetings all yesterday and negotiations are on-going. I'm hopeful on that one but, again, we will have to wait and see."

So, it seems that both deals still can go through,. However, Ghaly's deal is still the one that is most likely to happen.

Portsmouth boss Redknapp: Liverpool can win title
tribalfooball.com - July 27, 2007

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp reckons Liverpool will be genuine contenders for the Premier League title this season. Rafael Benitez's side take on Pompey in the final of the Asia Trophy in Hong Kong Stadium on Friday evening.
And Redknapp is confident that after a summer of heavy investment, the coming campaign will not prove to be another false dawn for Reds supporters.
"I do think they will be contenders this year," he said.
"They're looking very strong. The backbone of the team is still Carragher and Gerrard, two homegrown players, but they've added a lot of quality again and will be a lot closer to Manchester United and Chelsea.
"Tottenham are a team that could push into the top four this year as well if anyone's going to. They've got that bigger squad and have spent a lot of money over the last couple of years so they'll be very strong.
"West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, they'll all improve, but I think everyone will have a go this year.
"We'll try to improve on what we did last season. We finished ninth and missed out on Europe on the last day of the season, but I think with this squad the aim is to get a European place this year and I think it's possible.
He added: "I'm quite happy with the squad.
"Unlike other years where we've been desperate to get players in just to have half a chance, we're strong this year. If I can add a bit extra, I will, but I've got to find the right player."

Birmingham cool Ghaly enthusiasm

Birmingham cool Ghaly enthusiasm
tribalfooball.com - July 28, 2007

Birmingham denied reports they have already signed Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly, insisting the deal is "nowhere near" being finalised. The Egyptian international has been quoted claiming he has passed a medical and signed a contract with the Midlands club.
Ghaly told Dream TV: "I have put the finishing touches to the move and signed the contract.
"I passed the medical and will link up with my new Birmingham team-mates within the next couple of days."
But a Blues spokesman said the deal was "nowhere near" being finalised.
