    Juande Ramos ~ [New Coach]

    Jol's shock warning to Spurs

Boss Martin Jol has revealed that he would still turn up for Tottenham's games even if the board decided to sack him this season.

The Dutch tactician's future at White Hart Lane has been shrouded in doubt this season as Spurs have made a disappointing start with just four points from a possible 15 on offer and they sit 14th in the table. The North Londoners were backed to challenge for a top-four Champions League spot and the White Hart Lane board and chairman Daniel Levy are thought to be very unhappy with the way things are going.

However Jol has made a startling admission that he would continue to watch Spurs even if he were no longer in employment at the club.

He told the Daily Mail: "I told the chairman that if I'm not sitting in the dug-out I will be sitting in the stands as a fan. He won't get rid of me that easily."

Meanwhile Jol has hit out at the latest international break as he feels it will take his players longer to reach their peak form in the Premiership due to the interruption.

"We had the first six weeks with pre-season and in the second six you want to overload your players to make them fitter and fitter.

"Last year it certainly came off because we could peak all the time, but if they are gone for over a week it makes it much more difficult. You must hope for the best that they all come back without any injuries."

He added: "Any manager will tell you that they don't like it - and I certainly feel that way. You don't see your players and they could get injured.

"They all want to play for their countries, I understand that and I would never stand in their way. On the other hand, sometimes the breaks can be a pain and affect your planning."

Well I say sack him and get it over with, I know that alot of supporters want him to say, because they want stability at the club, but they are starting off just as badly this season as they did last. Kanoute had some choice things to say about him appearently. I know that the chairman is looking suspect as well, I still feel a change is needed somewhere, I kind of feel like it's Aston Villa all over again.

Jol is a good coach, he has the best points average at the club in two decades, you can't just go out and sack somone with a record like Jol. Give him more time.

    Jol: I'm not quitting

Martin Jol says reports he is ready to quit Tottenham Hotspur are 'a load of rubbish'.

Speculation has claimed that Jol was prepared to step down following the incessant rumours about his future at White Hart Lane.
Spurs have already moved to deny suggestions that the club have called an emergency board meeting to discuss the situation.
And Jol, who stressed on Sunday that he has the backing of chairman Daniel Levy, has also dismissed the rumours.

    Committed to cause

The Dutchman is determined to lead Spurs out of the Premier League's bottom three and is surprised by the latest bout of speculation.
"Everybody is committed to the cause and the cause is to get higher up in the league and make a success of the season," Jol told the club's official website.
"Doing this is dominating my thoughts at the moment, so, as you would imagine, I was a little bit surprised to hear that one newspaper was suggesting that I was on the verge of quitting my job today.
    "What a load of rubbish!"

Didier Zokora has urged his Tottenham team-mates to win their next three games to take the pressure off Martin Jol.
Spurs' season took another disappointing turn on Monday as they lost 3-1 at Newcastle.
They remain in the bottom three of the Premier League and Zokora accepts that Jol's position will come under even more scrutiny if Spurs cannot beat Getafe, Blackburn and Blackpool at home over the next seven days.
"We've got to turn things around for the fans and for the manager," Zokora told the Daily Express.
"The players are totally behind Martin Jol. He is a good man and a good coach. Maybe his confidence has gone a little, but he is still a top, top manager.
"We know the way football works, but we now have three home games in a row against Getafe, Blackburn and Blackpool and after three wins everything will look a lot better.
"We have to get those victories because the manager needs it and we, the players, are desperate to start winning again."

    Fans' frustration

Many Tottenham fans appear to be losing patience with Jol following reports of a bust-up between the manager and star striker Dimitar Berbatov,
Speculation about Jol's future has been rife since the start of the season and Daniel Wynne, chairman of the Tottenham Supporters' Trust, admits he is now questioning whether the Dutchman can stay in the job.
"Martin has got us out of this situation before. Can he do it again? I'm not so sure," Wynne said in the Daily Mirror.
"If the team are not doing it for Martin, maybe they will do it for another manager.
"There are still plenty of points to play for, but there was no commitment or passion against Newcastle. It appears that the players are not playing for the manager anymore."

    Hughes in the frame

Sevilla coach Juande Ramos has been linked with the manager's position at White Hart Lane this season but tabloid speculation now suggests Tottenham are lining up Mark Hughes to replace Jol.
Hughes has impressed at Blackburn in recent years and Spurs bosses are reportedly ready to make an offer for his services.

yep guys he quit and it was said in the tottenham official website , but seriously i watched the match yesterday , it's not his fault his tactics are great ...

people should put the blame on the shity defence i mean how shittier can you be

i mean the 2 goals that came in were obvious defensive faults ...

that could be one of the reasons but i still stand on my descision that it's the phatoah's curse i mean what coinsedences when he put ghaly inthe reserves team they started losing or when he also let go of mido and last year whenever ghaly or mido came on spurs won or tied.

eg :chelsea match , uefa cup matches

Sevilla have insisted there is no announcement planned regarding the future of Juande Ramos, but the Spanish coach has indicated that he is ready to succeed Martin Jol at Tottenham.
Spurs have been tracking Ramos since the start of the season and are thought to be closing in on a swift appointment following the departure of Martin Jol on Thursday.
Sevilla held an emergency meeting after learning of the developments at White Hart Lane, and have stressed that Ramos remains their manager.
A club spokesman said: "Juande Ramos is still coach of Sevilla FC and the club has no announcements planned at the moment."
However, reports in Spain suggest that Ramos has already told Sevilla bosses he is keen to sign the four-year contract on offer at Spurs.
Ramos has refused to confirm he will still be in charge of Sevilla for their clash with Valencia this Sunday and has admitted his attraction to Spurs.
"The Spurs project is a very big dream," he told Cadena Ser.

    Fabiano fears

Ramos took charge of training as normal on Friday but Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano has admitted the reports are unsettling the players.
"There is comment and speculation but nothing concrete," said the Brazilian.
"We saw the newspapers in the dressing room - but no more than that.
"In Brazil it happens midway through the season but if someone else were to come in, we would have time to adapt.
"It's not good news but what can we do if there is a change of coach?"

Ramos quits Sevilla for £25M Spurs deal

Juande Ramos has resigned as Sevilla coach, so paving the way to join Tottenham as new manager.

According to reports in Spain, Ramos has agreed a four-year deal and is expected to join Spurs on Monday.

Without mentioning Tottenham by name, the 53-year-old Ramos told his personal website: "For my family and career it is impossible not to leave for London."

The Evening Standard newspaper reported Ramos would be paid £25m over the length of his contract.

"This has been the hardest decision of my life," added Ramos. "My time at Sevilla has been the most important period of my life personally and professionally. I will be eternally grateful."

Sevilla's physical trainer Marcos Alvarez has also tendered his resignation.

Ramos' contract with Sevilla had been due to expire at the end of this season.

"The now ex-Sevilla coach declined the possibility of giving a press conference at the club's training facilities," said a Sevilla statement.

"He has chosen his website JuandeRamos.com :: Juan de la Cruz Ramos Cano as a means of saying goodbye to Sevilla."

Hossam Ghaly's coach and Mido's former coach Martin Jol decided to call it a day and resigned from his position as Spurs coach after the recent run of poor results. Meanwhile, Sevilla's coach Ramos is preparing to take Jol's position after he resigned from his job as Sevilla manager.

Since Both Egyptians Mido and Ghaly left Spurs, Pharaohs curse apparently hit the North London side. Tottenham achieved European qualification last season and ended in the 5th spot for the second season in a row. However, since Mido and Ghaly left the team, the form of Spurs went downhill and they are now facing relegation danger and exit from UEFA cup as well.
Martin Jol, Mido and Ghaly were all integral part of Spurs success in the past two seasons. Jol took control of Tottenham and helped them to qualify to Europe in his second season and third seasons. Mido, as well, played a major part on his loan period at Spurs as he led the side to a prestigious 5th place at end of season.
The Egyptian found himself a 4th choice after signing permanently from Roma but Spurs remained strong with the arrival of Berbatov who proved his worth in his first season with Spurs. The other Egyptian Ghaly shone in the last season as he scored, assisted and won penalties in many crucial games and the end was another 5th place for Spurs last season.
In summer, Spurs decided to get rid of both Egyptians Mido and Ghaly. Mido had to leave after the signing of Darren Bent while Ghaly was forced to leave the club after throwing the team shirt onto the ground in the penultimate matchday in the Premiership.
On paper, Spurs did well as they brought Kaboul, Gareth Bale and Bent at expense of Mido and Ghaly but in the real world, the new players didn't help the team much with Bale as an exception.

Ghaly and the throwing shirt incident
Spurs lost the creativity of Ghaly and the fighting spirit of Mido and results can only confirm this. Gradually with time, the fans and board lost faith in Martin Jol and he had to leave after a shocking 1-2 home defeat at the hands of Getafe on Thursday.
Now, Sevilla's coach Ramos is preparing to replace Jol at Spurs. The manager announced his resignation from his job as Sevilla manager and is preparing to take Spurs hot seat.
Ramos won UEFA cup twice with the Spanish side and helped former Spurs forward Kanoute to top La Liga's top socrers list last season and Spurs fans are hoping that he can get the best off the current players who are underperforming at the moment.
The question that is of importance to Egyptians is: Will Ghaly become part of Ramos' plans? or it is already over for the Egyptian at the lane?
Answering this question could be difficult but early signs show that the change of managers won't affect Ghaly much as the Egyptian is already in Egypt and not training with Spurs anymore.
A fit and ready Ghaly will surely be a part in Ramos plans and the Egyptian would become the magic word which could save Spurs season. However, Ghaly's absence from training with the club will not help him at all.

This article just justifies what ive been saying.... the pharoahs curse whooaaaaaaa

Ramos - Berbatov can go if he´s not happy

    Written by: AFP

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has hinted he will allow Dimitar Berbatov, seen here in September 2007, to leave if the Bulgaria striker makes it clear he is unhappy.
LONDON (AFP) - Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has hinted he will allow Dimitar Berbatov to leave if the Bulgaria striker makes it clear he is unhappy.

The 26-year-old forward has produced a series of lacklustre performances this season, sparking suggestions he was keen to quit White Hart Lane.

Reports that Manchester United would try to sign him when the transfer window opens in January increased after his agent travelled to London this week for talks with Tottenham's sporting director Damien Comolli, while Berbatov's father has also suggested his son is unsettled.

Ramos wants a fully committed squad and the Spanish coach claimed he would not stand in Berbatov's way if he wants to go.

"I believe you can't force players to stay in the team if they don't want to," Ramos said.

"It is not good for the team or the player, so I wouldn't stand in anyone's way if they want to leave."

Berbatov, who is in the squad for Spurs's UEFA Cup clash against Hapoel Tel Aviv on Thursday, was criticised for appearing to refuse to warm-up when he was a substitute in his side's defeat at Newcastle recently.

Ramos insists Berbatov must give total commitment to the north London club.

"I think he is happy, but that is a question you need to ask him," Ramos added. "He is a Spurs player and he needs to help and support the team."

Bent: Tottenham players happy with Ramos

Darren Bent says Tottenham's players have quickly been won over by new manager Juande Ramos.

"He's definitely a hands-on person, he likes to speak to every person individually," said Bent. "That's what he did before the Middlesbrough game with me when he told me I was playing. He did the same with Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jermain Defoe.

"He also spoke to the guys who were left out. So it's nice that you don't get left out without hearing the reason."

Although he is still in the early stages of his reign, Bent revealed the confidence players have in the Spaniard.

"It's definitely been a lot different," said the 23-year-old.

"He's been really good, he's got good methods and talks a lot of sense."

    Spurs defensive trio under pressure

Juande Ramos is ready to offload several of his Tottenham defenders in January.

The Mirror says the Tottenham boss is determined to strengthen his defence as he does not believe his current squad is strong enough with Younes Kaboul, Pascal Chimbonda and Young-Pyo Lee under threat.

Spurs boss Ramos delighted with "exceptional" Berbatov

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos was delighted with Dimitar Berbatov after his performance in their victory over Wigan.

"He played exceptionally, the same as the team," said the Spaniard. "Even though he did not score a goal he played very well.

"He has said that he wants to stay. Obviously he is a player who, when his team are winning, is going to be happy.

"I hope until the end of the season he will make a decision and hopefully he will stay."

Ramos delighted as Spurs thump Wigan

Juande Ramos' Tottenham thrashed relegation rivals Wigan Athletic 4-0 to lift themselves away from the dropzone.

Jermaine Jenas opened the scoring with a tap-in after Robbie Keane's fine work on the byline, then Dimitar Berbatov took centre stage.

He passed to Jenas to round Chris Kirkland for the second, after 26 minutes.

Before the break it was 3-0. Berbatov cushioned a huge Paul Robinson clearance before nonchalantly laying the ball back for Aaron Lennon to volley home.

Darren Bent came off the bench to add the fourth, then Berbatov was denied the goal his work deserved when his effort came off the post.

"We are happy with the scoreline but the thing I'm more happy with is three of the four matches since I've been here have been clean sheets," Ramos said.

"Once you get that clean sheet, players play much better and have more confidence.

"I can't give an opinion of Spurs before I arrived because I didn't see those matches - but my opinion is that a team needs to be attacking well but you need to do well defensively for solidity. You're going to perform better."

Birmingham's defeat meant Spurs climbed three places.

"I'm especially satisfied with the three points because sometimes you can get three points and the teams behind you win, and you don't really go up the table," Ramos added.

    Villa agent invites Tottenham offer

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is planning a mega offer for Valencia strike-ace David Villa.

Ramos is planning a £30m swoop for Villa as he is worried Dimitar Berbatov still wants to quit the club.

If Valencia indicate a willingness to sell, Spurs can expect stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea.

"Many clubs have contacted me to ask about the chances of a player who is guaranteed to score goals in England," said Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo in the News of the World.

"But I am convinced if Spurs present an offer Valencia will study the subject."

He added: "I think we did enough to win it. We are a little bit disappointed but that is football. We are still unbeaten and we have to keep going."

    Ramos treats King with care

    Written by: AFP

Tottenham Hotspur footballer Ledley King (R) vies with Fulham footballer Clint Dempsey (L) during their Premiership match at White Hart Lane in North London, England, 26 December 2007. Tottenham manager Juande Ramos admitted he will have to treat Ledley King with care after the England defender finally returned from injury. King made his long-awaited comeback in Wednesday´s 5-1 win over Fulham at White Hart Lane.

LONDON (AFP) - Tottenham manager Juande Ramos admitted he will have to treat Ledley King with care after the England defender finally returned from injury.

King made his long-awaited comeback in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Fulham at White Hart Lane.

The Spurs captain played for 73 minutes after overcoming knee surgery and then a thigh injury. It was only his seventh appearance for Tottenham in a year.

Ramos will now see how King reacts before deciding on whether he can play against Reading on Saturday.

"Ledley is still getting better. We needed him to play because we did not have enough defensive players and you can see the influence he brings to the team," Ramos said.

"To have a player like him in defence is great because he has a lot of international experience and knows the players well, but physically he has to get used to the tempo of the game.

"We will see how his knee is getting on and that depends on whether he can play again at the weekend."

Ramos also praised Tom Huddlestone for losing weight and proving he is capable of holding down a place in the first team.

The midfield player, who rarely featured under previous Spurs manager Martin Jol, showed off his new streamline figure by scoring two excellent goals in Wednesday's rout.

Huddlestone, who joined Tottenham from Derby for two million pounds in 2005, was placed on a strict diet by Ramos and it is now beginning to reap the benefits.

He scored his first when he thundered the ball past Fulham goalkeeper Antti Niemi in first half stoppage time after neat work by Steed Marbranque. His second was even better.

Aaron Lennon beat Paul Konchesky for pace before passing to Huddlestone, who drove the ball into the bottom of the corner from 20 yards out.

His man of the match performance was warmly received by Ramos, who said after the match: "Tom has been magnificent. He has excellent ball control and had a really good performance today and participated a lot in the match.

"His weight was something which worried us a lot at the beginning but you can see now he is making a real effort to be fitter. You can see the results in his performances.

"We are happy that there are players on the team who have slimmed down quite a bit and the rest of the squad appreciate that because we needed that to happen."

The match was also memorable for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane, who scored twice to take his career Premier League goals tally to the 100 mark.

Second half substitute Jermain Defoe wrapped up the scoring late on with a low finish from Huddlestone’s pass. Clint Dempsey had earlier scored a consolation goal for Fulham, but their misery was compounded when Mortiz Volz was sent off after receiving two bookings.

Caretaker Fulham manager Ray Lewington was left downcast by the defeat and warned his players that they need to improve against Birmingham on Saturday.

He said: "If they play like that they will get relegated but I hope they won't.

"Everything that could go wrong, went wrong against Spurs. We are realistic to know that the performance was no good either. We've got to put it right.

"I don't know if I will stay in charge this weekend but if Fulham make a change before then, fine."

I hope they keep him. I don't know where they could find another coach in a small period of time. Also he has brought the team around after the rocky start.

Besides you have to love his amount of pride for the team. If they sack him i think it would be a big mistake.

He is underachieving this year so I think they need to take a long look at him. I'm not saying sack him but make it a possibility.

Ledley King is a great player, but sadly we'll never know just how great he could have been.

    It's a sad one...
